These stunning Canadian log holiday homes nestle alongside a small stream in a secluded wooded valley at the edge of Little Petherick, yet a short distance from the village Church. Such properties are a rarity, particularly so close to the coast in North Cornwall, and in this wonderful setting are very much in natural harmony with their surroundings. Internal inspection is thoroughly recommended if one is to appreciate the character of these highly individual homes which have twelve months’ holiday use.
The majority of homes are South-East facing with large deck areas and feature open-plan layouts to the ground floor, ensuring the best use of natural light. The homes are finished to extremely high specifications throughout, and are constructed by a team led by Canadian craftsmen. All light fittings are included, together with integrated fridge, washer-dryer, dishwasher, and oven, hob and extractor. Gardens are turfed where appropriate.
The properties combine traditional materials with today’s engineering technology, and are finished with much care and a great attention to detail – perfect for those seeking a holiday retreat with investment potential in this part of the Country.
The creek at Little Petherick is considered an area of outstanding natural beauty and leads to the Camel Estuary, close to Padstow’s Iron Bridge. The creek and estuary are a bird watchers’ paradise, and there are many lovely walks to be found almost on the doorstep. Padstow itself is approximately two miles distant, with the fine sandy beaches of Trevone, Harlyn, Constantine and Treyarnon Bay, and the Championship Golf Course at Tevose are all within a few minutes’ drive.
North Cornwall, and particularly those areas within a short distance of Padstow, has an extremely buoyant holiday lettings market which appears to be strong all year round. The high specification, internal configuration, and rarity of these homes, makes for an ideal property aimed at the upper end of the holiday rental market. Several existing owners have elected to place their homes on the holiday rentals market, with a variety of Letting Agencies, including:
Weekly rates based upon those tariffs displayed on the web-sites of these Agents currently range from £460.00 to £560.00 per week off-peak, to £895.00 to £1,165.00 per week in the high season.
Current owners have reported an excellent take-up rate for both Summer and Winter weeks with some having already achieved in excess twenty weeks’ bookings between 1st May 2003 and 31st December 2003 (notwithstanding that none of the properties appeared in the Letting Agents’ main brochures for the 2003 season). Existing owners are anticipating high levels of repeat business for following seasons.
